FAQLED screen rental questions
What screen to rent, how it handles sun and rain, what to send for content, and how setup works.
01 / Choosing a screen
What type of LED screen do I need for an outdoor event?
An outdoor-rated LED screen with IP65 panels. Our mobile LED trailers and outdoor modular walls are built for it: daylight bright, sealed against rain and dust, and ready for events that start before sunset. Projection washes out in daylight, so for any daytime outdoor event LED is the only real option.
Can you see an LED screen in direct sunlight?
Yes. LED makes its own light, so it stays bright and readable in direct sun. That is the main reason outdoor graduations, races and festivals use LED instead of projectors.
Can an LED screen run in the rain?
Yes. Our outdoor panels are IP65 rated and keep running in rain. Your technician stays with the screen all day and handles weather calls on site.
Should I rent a mobile LED trailer or a modular LED wall?
Rent a trailer when you want a big screen fast with no rigging: it parks, levels, raises and goes live. Rent a modular wall when you need a custom size or shape, want it flown from truss, built into a stage set, or used indoors. Not sure? Tell us the venue and crowd and we will recommend one.
What size LED screen do I need?
Size the screen for your farthest viewer and your space. Our trailers come in 11' x 18' and 13' x 24.5'. Modular walls can be built to almost any width and height. Try the size comparison on our screens page, or send us your venue and headcount for a recommendation.
What is pixel pitch and which one do I need?
Pixel pitch is the distance between LED pixels in millimeters. Smaller pitch means a sharper image up close. A rough rule: the closest sharp viewing distance in feet is about 3.3 times the pitch. Our trailers use 3.9mm panels, so the image looks sharp from about 13 feet back. For modular walls we match the pitch to your closest audience row.
Is LED better than a projector and screen?
For most events, yes. LED is daylight bright, weatherproof, casts no shadows when people walk in front, works with house lights on, and can be built into any shape. Projection only makes sense in a dark room.
Do you rent LED screens for indoor events?
Yes. Modular LED walls work indoors for galas, church services, trade show booths, commencements and concerts. LED beats projection indoors too, since you don't have to fight house lights or windows.
02 / Content and production
What resolution should my video content be?
Match the screen. The 11' x 18' trailer is 1408 x 768 pixels and the 13' x 24.5' trailer is 1920 x 1024 pixels. Standard 16:9 HD content also plays fine. For modular walls we send exact pixel dimensions once the wall size is set.
Can you show a live camera feed of the stage on the screen?
Yes. We plan camera positions with your team, cut the show live to the screens (IMAG), add graphics and sponsor loops, stream it and hand you the full recording.
Can I play slides, videos and sponsor ads?
Yes. Slides, videos, logos, sponsor loops and live feeds can all go on the screen. Your technician runs playback during the event.
03 / Setup and logistics
How much space does a mobile LED trailer need?
About one standard parking stall. The trailer needs no truss, rigging or crane, and the screen raises 3' to 14' off the ground and rotates 360 degrees to face your audience.
How long does LED screen setup take?
A trailer is signal-ready in under an hour after parking. Modular wall build time depends on size and mounting; we schedule load-in around your event.
Does a technician stay with the screen?
Yes. A Boom Video LED technician stays with the equipment every day, all day, from load-in to strike.
What areas do you serve?
Southern California, Northern California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah, including Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, the Inland Empire, San Francisco, the Bay Area, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe, Phoenix, Tucson, Salt Lake City and Park City.
04 / Booking
What events do you provide LED screens for?
College and high school graduations, concerts and festivals, sporting events, marathons and races, fundraisers and galas, church services, corporate events, trade shows, movie nights and watch parties.
How much does it cost to rent an LED screen?
Pricing depends on screen type and size, number of days, location, and whether you add cameras and live production. Send your date, venue and event type and we will put together a quote.
How far in advance should I book an LED screen?
As soon as your date is set. Graduation season and summer weekends fill first. Call us at (323) 229-1799 to check availability.
Still have a question?
